Hello! Paul here with more DISH news for you. They seem to have a lot of continuing current events, so I’ll highlight some of the big ones. Some of this is new news, and some of these items are an update on news items I brought to you in previous blogs.
You know I like to focus on a particular news event or update if possible, but there’s just too much excitement going on with DISH right now to talk about only one! And I have to say, it’s largely positive. Here are some of the important bits and pieces of DISH news you might find interesting:
- Dish Network Hopper with Sling scores rave reviews. Last time I talked to you, I told you about DISH’s innovative new version of the Hopper, the Hopper with Sling. Since its release less than 2 weeks ago, the Hopper with Sling has been receiving excellent reviews and even awards. PCMag.com gave it an Outstanding rating, and it received the CES award for “Best in Show.” This was a big blow to CBS, who’s still in litigation with DISH over its new AutoHop commercial-skipping technology.
- DISH is now thinking about offering home security service. The buzz around the Internet is that DISH is now considering offering their own branded home security systems. Comcast recently released their own online home security system, and DISH thinks it may be a feasible new venture on top of their recent wireless efforts.
- Speaking of wireless efforts, DISH is moving forward with its potential Sprint partnership. By working with Sprint to provide wireless service, DISH could prevent Sprint from buying Clearwire Corp., whose wireless spectrum DISH needs to proceed with wireless service. Only time will tell what happens with this one.
Of all of the news items this week, I must say that the Hopper with Sling reviews and awards are the most exciting and beneficial to the consumer. But it does make you wonder if, with all of the innovative and award-winning new technology DISH is releasing, is it really a stretch to think that they might also soon offer wireless and home security services? I can’t say I wouldn’t be interested.
